As you're lounging by the beach, at the park, or even with friends in the backyard, it is important that you take care of your skin and eye health. That's why we wanted to share a few facts on sun safety that we came across today in Better Homes and Gardens.Do you love spending time in the sun?
Don't forget to apply sunscreen! Sunscreen is categorized primarily by its Sun Protection Factor, or SPF, which represents how long it takes UVB light to redden skin. If you're spending extended periods of time in the sunshine, sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater is recommended. According to Susan Chon, associate dermatology professor at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, one ounce of sunscreen should be applied to your entire body every two hours, or after swimming or sweating. UV protection sunglasses, wide brim hats, and clothing can help shield your skin and eyes from harmful sun rays.
